Think a ponytail bald head looks good? Think again!
Walking past a fellow baldy, I noticed he was sporting a ponytail with his bald head and I had to ask myself, “why?” Maybe he wants to look like an Ancient Samurai.
When you shave your head and commit to the shaved head lifestyle, one of the things you give up is using hair as a fashion accessory. So why is it that some men insist on clinging to hair like growing a ponytail with their bald head? So I did a little research trying to find a guy who could pull off the ponytail bald head look but I couldn’t. Let’s look into why the ponytail bald head look is so bad and what you need to do instead.
Why is the bald head ponytail look so bad?
The bald head ponytail look is so bad because it’s another form of balding denial. You basically look like an eccentric aging hippie with the bald head and ponytail.
A ponytail with a bald head is almost as bad as a comb-over on a bald head.
Very few people can actually pull off a bald head with a ponytail. Maybe if you are super rich, a legendary rock star, you can possibly pull off the look. But the vast majority of balding men can’t. So don’t go for the ponytail bald head look.
What kind of guys sport the bald ponytail look?
The kind of guys who usually sport the bald head ponytail look are usually aging hippies longing for their “long haired” youth. Or of course Hulk Hogan.
But at least Hulk Hogan wears a bandana at all times.
Unfortunately, you would think a man of that size, fame and stature would show the strength to accept his baldness and just shave his head.
It goes to show you that it doesn’t matter how big you are, how many muscles you have or how famous you are, insecurity about male pattern baldness cuts through all stratas of society.
It’s sad that a guy like Hulk Hogan has to take to hatfishing in the form of a bandana on his head. Maybe we should call this bandana fishing.
Is a shaved head unprofessional?
A shaved head is not unprofessional. In fact, it can be very professional. A shaved head can be used to your advantage in the workplace. It demonstrates confidence as well as seriousness.
People will actually take you more seriously and may even think twice before messing with you. Here’s a post about how professional a shaved head can be in the workplace.
Is it bad to always wear your hair in a ponytail?
This is a personal preference of course.
I mean if you are in the habit of growing out your hair long and enjoy the look, but you find times where having long hair can be also inconvenient, getting to your face etc.
Then pulling it into a ponytail might be an option at those times in which long hair is inconvenient.
However, I personally don’t like the ponytail look. Except of course if you’re a woman. Enough said.
Does putting hair in a ponytail help it grow?
Putting your hair in a ponytail does not help it grow. In fact, putting your hair in a ponytail may cause premature breakage due to the pulling effect of putting your hair in a ponytail.
Does being bald make you look older?
Being bald can make you look older. However, it can also make you look younger. It’s all and how you sport being bald. Let me explain.
Being bald can make you look older if you have the classic horseshoe bald look.
The classic horseshoe bald look of course is when you are bald on top but you allow your hair on the sides and back to continue growing.
We all know this look as the classic bald guy look. This can make you look older.
Also, if you sport that horseshoe bald head look but allow those horseshoe fringes of hair to grow out longer and wrap them up in a ponytail, these too, can make you look older as a bald man.
However, shaving your head totally bald can have the opposite effect and make you look younger.
Combine the shaved bald head with a nice healthy tan along with of course getting in shape and you can literally take years off your age and appearance.
So it all depends on how you approach being bald.
Still think a ponytail bald head looks good? Conclusions.
So listen guys, the bottom line is unless you are a Samurai Warrior, very, very rich or Former Governor and ex-WWE professional wrestler Jesse “the body” Ventura, cut the ponytail and shave your head. Come clean and come home.
Even the ancient Egyptians cut the ponytails of their Princes off and shaved their heads when they became Pharaohs. You should too.
