Yes, a shaved head is intimidating, so embrace it!
I’m standing at the mirror with my freshly shaved head and started thinking why is a shaved head intimidating?
One of the best reasons to shave your head instead of walking looking insecure and weak is because a shaved head is intimidating. A shaved head is intimidating because it takes guts to shave off what most people base part of their identity on, their hair. Besides it does look badass, but why? Let’s look into why a shaved head is intimidating and how you can use that shaved head intimidating factor to turn your life around.
Why do men shave their heads?
Men nowadays shave their heads for a variety of reasons. Some of the more prominent ones especially, throughout history I will go into more below.
However, if you are reading this post and have read some of my other posts on Bald Handsome Man, the number one reason why most men shave their heads nowadays is simply because they are balding.
Shaving your head is the ultimate solution to your problems and dealing with hair loss and balding. It’s the only true way a man can come to grips and take back control over his appearance.
Of course there are other ways a man can take control of his appearance and life in general. However, balding and thinning hair is one of the biggest challenges a man has to deal with as far as his appearance. Why?
Simply because it’s one of the few areas where as of now, we have very little control over changing.
Male pattern baldness is a genetic trait and just like your eye color, it’s something that’s very difficult to change. So why fight it?
Simply shave your head and be done with it.
Unfortunately, society throughout history has treated male pattern baldness like some kind of weakness or condition that makes those who have it feel like they are not attractive or something less than what they should be. You should reject that!
By rejecting that societal convention you can finally relieve yourself of all that frustration and anxiety over something that you cannot control.
The only way you can truly do that is by shaving your head.
Here are some great examples of men who shave the heads.
I’m going to roll down a list of some great examples of men who shave their heads. Many of them you probably already know. But I will put links to their images so you can see for yourself.
I will also at the bottom of this section give you a link to many other great looking handsome bald men who are not celebrities or business titans that you can look to for inspiration.
Hopefully they will help motivate you to shave your head as well.
Let’s go down the list. We’ll start with a couple of classic bald icons when in their days were very often considered avant-garde even to the point where most men did not want to emulate them.
But as history has proven they were far ahead of their time.
They are of course Yul Brynner and Telly Savalas. Even if you look at their clothing and their fashion style, they were classic. You can literally wear basically the same clothes as they did today and look great.
That’s how classic their styles were, just like their shaved heads.
Here’s a tribute to Yul Brynner.
Check out these two Iconic Telly Savalas clips from his famous catch phrase “Who loves ya baby!”
Classic Bald Icons:
Modern Day Bald icons:
Edward Norton in American History X
Jeff Bezos, the world’s richest man.
Professional soccer players Zinedine Zidane and Fabien Barthez.
These are just some of the celebrities who have decided to take a blade to their scalps, shave their heads and come home.
Now unfortunately, I’m going to run down a list of celebrities who have gone the opposite route and have male pattern baldness but refuse to accept and own it.
In fact, they are good examples of balding men in denial which is not a place you want to be or emulate.
Balding hiders and deniers:
Prince William now joined by his increasingly balding smart alec of a brother Prince Harry, who ironically, used to bust William’s chops about his thinning locks. Nature and genetics can be a biatch!
John Travolta, it must be noted that he has since shaved his head and looks great, although I have sometimes seen recent photos of him going back to his really bad looking toupees. Talk about insecurity. One of the world’s most iconic actors. On top sex symbols lists for last 30 to 40 years, can’t even accept his own hair loss and make the most of it.
Why are shaved heads intimidating?
Shaved heads are intimidating simply because how many people just take a razor and shave their heads? It’s a pretty gutsy move. It also demonstrates a person’s fearlessness and rejection of conventional norms. In other words, It demonstrates confidence.
When should I shave my head?
You should basically shave your head when you’re tired of dealing with thinning hair.
As soon as you accept your thinning hair and male pattern baldness, the faster you can get to doing something about it and regaining whatever confidence you’ve lost back and then some.
In fact, by skipping the denial stage of your baldness and hair loss you will have hopefully avoided the slippery slope of hair loss treatments, hair systems and hair transplants.
Do yourself a favor as well as your bank account and skip all that. Use that money to invest in some workout gear or a gym membership and work on improving other parts of yourself that are within your control.
Once you get in better shape, invest in some new clothes as a reward. Step by step, you will be evolving, recreating your image to look great bald.
Getting in shape and great clothes will do wonders to boost your confidence levels. It’s confidence my friends, that will be the most attractive part of you, even more than your shaved head.
So in other words the time to shave your head if you’re reading this, is now!
What’s the meaning of a shaved head?
Men have been shaving their heads and lately women, for a variety of reasons. In fact, history is filled with examples of when men decided to shave their heads. The most notable or of course is for religious reasons, cultural and military reasons.
Here’s a post on “The Symbolism of Shaving Your Head.” you can read for more details on the history of head shaving.
I will of course exclude the Spartans who were the opposite; they grew their hair very long and were probably one of the most warrior-like people in history.
However, every other military culture has taken to shaving their heads both for a sense of uniformity as well as for hygiene reasons. Besides it looks pretty badass and fearless which are all qualities any good soldier needs when you agree?
Nowadays, shaving your head has become more of a fashion statement. In fashion, shaving your head not only accentuates your appearance and other features like how you dress, your shape, your eyes etc. but it also keeps people guessing.
People don’t know why you’re shaving your head. They have to guess if it’s for religious reasons, if it’s for the military etc. So having a shaved head keeps people guessing.
Head shaving isn’t just for someone who’s losing their hair, but for many other different reasons. Which is good for us, because if we’re shaving our heads because of male pattern baldness because many people will think that we’re shaving our heads for other reasons as well.
It’s a lot better than going in for a wig. I’ll tell you that.
Are shaved heads attractive?
Shaved heads are attractive guys! I have various posts on this website extolling the virtues of what makes shaved heads attractive. Check them out.
I’ve also read various articles on the web that promote the same thing.
However, I will add this, you will not know how attractive a shaved head is and whether or not it will work for you until you actually pull the trigger and shave your head yourself.
It’s one of those things that you only find out once you experience it for the first time yourself.
Although you’re much luckier than I was. You do have countless examples of attractive men who shave their heads and look great.
The only question is whether or not you have the confidence and are frustrated enough with your own thinning and balding hair that you too will join us. Pull the trigger and shave your head man!
Why do shaved heads look good?
Shaved heads look good because first off, it’s intimidating. Nothing screams look at me or I’m in your face more than a shaved head.
A lot of people don’t know how to handle it when they are confronted with a man who shaves his head.
A shaved head is also attractive because it exudes confidence. Confidence is probably the most attractive trait a man can have.
When I say confidence, I don’t mean cockiness or arrogance. I mean a calm, cool confidence of a man who knows who he is.
Shaved heads are also attractive because they accentuate all your positive features.
So any improvement you make in yourself, whether that’s getting in better shape, sporting some new clothes, getting a tan etc. are only accentuated more with a shaved head.
Does a shaved head make you look tough?
A shaved head definitely makes you look tough. How tough, all depends on you.
The exception to this rule is the guy who shaves his head, dresses and acts like a clown. You know the goofy bald guy. Don’t be this guy.
In addition, if you’re fat or overweight and think that by shaving your head it will actually make you more attractive, don’t do it. Drop some weight first and focus on getting in better shape before you take the blade to your scalp.
I don’t mean to sound harsh or cruel, but let’s face it. How many fat bald guys do you see that you consider attractive? Just saying.
Is a shaved head professional?
Absolutely! And shaved head can be very professional. It’s not your hair style or lack of that is unprofessional, it is your attitude and how you approach your profession.
Of course professionalism depends on your occupation and your work environment. So in these situations how you dress as well as how you address those you work with are much more important than whether or not you have a shaved head.
In fact, a shaved head can give you that edge. A shaved head tells the world that you are to be taken seriously. A shaved head kind of gives you that upper edge intimidating factor.
I have a post on how a shaved can be professional that you can read by clicking the link.
Is being bald a turn off?
I’m not going to lie. Being bald can be a turn off for some women. It’s a fact of life. You’re never going to be all things to all people including being attractive.
We’re all individuals and we all have individual tastes. And some women just aren’t going to dig a bald guy.
However, you can improve your odds of having more women who dig you because of your bald head.
That is of course, if you decide to improve other parts of your appearance.
Hey, we all can’t be Brad Pitt, right? But it doesn’t matter.
In fact, there are many women who don’t find Brad Pitt attractive or prefer dark guys or fair haired guys, men with blue eyes, men with brown eyes etc.
See where I’m going with all this? Being bald is as part of your DNA as is your hair color, your skin color, your height etc. These traits are determined by our DNA. There are also plenty of women who find those traits attractive.
So the thing is, make the most of what you’ve got. Accept what you don’t have, improve, evolve and move forward.
Should you shave your head everyday?
You should shave your head every day, if you want one particular length of stubble or you want to have a smooth shaved head without any bald head shadow.
By bald head shadow, I mean a 5:00 stubble like shadow on your shaved head.
I don’t like this because the darker that bald head shadow becomes, the more people could see where I’m actually still balding to where I can still grow hair. You can call it a lingering denial if you like, I accept that.
Nonetheless, I like the fact that people can’t really tell where I am still balding to where I’m not. Only if they look very, very closely. If you feel the same, then you should definitely shave your head every day.
In fact, if you have faster hair growth, you might even consider shaving your head twice a day.
The good news is, the more you shave your head, the better you get at it and the quicker you will get at it as well. Until it becomes quite easy to shave your head.
Use the shaved head intimidating factor to your advantage.
One of the first things you will realize once you shave your head is how intimidating you may look.
This is something most men don’t think about before they shave their heads, but only experience after the deed is done. It’s usually unintentional as well.
Many times we don’t realize how intimidating we do look with our shaved heads. It’s almost like having an extra strength that you have to learn how to use.
In fact, you may need to tone down the intimidating factor of a shaved head a notch, if you are already a little bit aggressive.
However, if you want to be taken seriously, then using that “shaved head intimidating factor” will definitely work to your advantage.
Not to mention, the amount of confrontations you will be able to actually avoid or where the opponent may simply back down before it escalates, because you have a shaved head.
I know this may be difficult to believe. But people will think twice before messing with you.
This “shaved head intimidating factor” is normally a byproduct of shaving our heads that we don’t seriously account for.
Most of us nowadays shave our heads as a way of dealing with and finally taking control over our male pattern baldness by owning it.
But if you play your cards right, you can use this “shaved head intimidating look” to your advantage. Though just like all superpowers, don’t get carried away.
