Can you use a beard trimmer to shave your head?
A beard trimmer may handle short scalp hair if its manual permits that use. Its narrower cutting head can make a full-head cut slower, and it will not necessarily leave the smooth finish you mean by shaving. Choose the tool according to your starting hair length and the finish you want.
Check the trimmer’s instructions for allowed use, guards, wet or dry operation and cleaning. There is no sound reason to assume scalp use will automatically damage every beard trimmer’s motor; suitability depends on the model.

How can you make a bald head look less shiny?
Wash gently, use a moisturizer if your scalp needs one, and compare the finish of your sunscreen. Blot surface oil lightly when needed. A matte look is a cosmetic preference; trying to strip away all oil or skipping sun protection can leave your scalp uncomfortable and exposed.
First work out what you are seeing. Shine can come from skin oil, sweat or product residue. A smooth, closely shaved surface also reflects light, so a bright overhead lamp can make the same scalp look shinier than it does in ordinary daylight.
A simple routine for less visible shine
- Wash gently. Use a mild cleanser and rinse it off. Hard scrubbing and repeated washing can irritate skin.
- Pat dry. Use a clean, soft towel without rubbing, especially after exercise.
- Choose moisture for comfort. If your scalp feels dry or tight, try a light moisturizer. Change one product at a time to compare the finish.
- Protect exposed skin. Use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and water-resistant sunscreen as labeled, and use a hat or shade where practical.
